Updates from José!

I have recently received two lovely letters from José, my Compassion correspondent in Peru:

It looks like his financial sponsor was able to bless him with another extra gift! José says he was able to buy three pairs of tennis shoes, pants, two t-shirts, two pairs of shorts and two sweaters.

I learned that the Compassion projects in Peru celebrate something called Sponsor's Week, where the children learn more about the countries that their sponsors are from. José told me that they did this at his project on June 20. Compassion Peru also sent me a thank-card with one of his letters for Sponsor's Week :)

José said his dad arrived in from a trip and he got to spend some time with him. He wants me to know that his family is fine, and asks for prayers for his step father.

He told me that at his project he learned that Jesus is his best friend!

He says goodbye "with kisses and hugs" and hopes to hear from me soon :)

Dios Ama Mi Vida: "God Loves my Life"

Today I received a sweet letter from Edison in Ecuador. He is 20 years old and lives with 9 other brothers and sisters!

He says: Dear sponsor, I greet you in the name of Lord Jesus. I want to thank you for the letters that you sent to me, it was a pleasure for my life. Do you think Lord blesses and takes care of us? I think he does, because he sent you to my path so you have a big mission as a sponsor (awwwww!). I am improving in school and I am looking for a solution for my life and to change my attitude because being with the Lord makes us forget our problems...Do you think God is like us? I think it is not truth because he is heaven and earth creator, we find happiness just with him. He will always be with me and you. I say goodbye with a hug in the name of Jesus. Amen.

He also drew a picture on the back and wrote "Dios ama mi vida," which, if I can rely on Google Translate for this one, means "God loves my life."

Edison is becoming a very thoughtful young man who is drawing closer to God and taking time to think about important questions. It's really exciting to see!
